Wildlife is abundant including red
squirrels, ospreys, golden eagles, roe deer
and badgers. The estate offers fishing, pony
trekking, riding, 27km of all terrain
cycling, woodland walks, canoeing and
kayaking (grade 3+). Golf available at the
famed Royal Troon and Turnberry Golf Courses
20 miles. Ayr 15 miles, Castle Douglas 30

the Solway Coast with its many sandy beaches
and rocky coves. It is within
walking distance of the small town of
Gatehouse of Fleet with shops, cafes,

kilt making centre and the Mill on the Fleet
Visitor Centre. The area offers great
walking opportunities with wonderful
countryside, lochs and the Galloway
Forest Park featuring cycle paths,
walks, birds and other wildlife. There are
many local attractions such as Cardoness
Castle, Cally Gardens (with its unusual
variety of plants) and the Cream o’ Galloway
for its adventure playgrounds and celebrated
ice cream. Throughout the area are fishing,
golf and watersports.

are many attractive towns: Kirkcudbright, the
artists’ town offering boat trips and art and craft
shops; Castle Douglas, Scotland’s food town with
many specialist shops and nearby Threave Castle and
Gardens; Wigtown, Scotland’s national book town, and
Creetown featuring the Gem Rock Museum. Shops, pubs
and restaurants ½ mile.

quiet street leading to the Galloway Forest.
The spacious holiday house overlooks the
famous Clock Tower and has been upgraded to
a high standard but with original features
preserved. Clocktower House has an enclosed
southwest-facing garden and is an ideal spot
from which to explore the surrounding
countryside. There are marked trails
for walking or cycling in the Galloway
Forest and south-facing beaches and
coastal walks nearby. There is a 9-hole golf
course a short walk away and the town also
boasts the Mill on the Fleet with
exhibitions of arts and crafts. Cardoness
Castle and Cally Gardens are well worth a
visit, as is the nearby artist town of
Kirkcudbright. Award-winning pub and
restaurants 50 yards.

Upland Way, Scotland’s coast to coast long

the 7 Stanes, it is a popular
location for cyclists and mountain bikers.

Galloway Sailing Centre for outdoor

access to Drumlanrig Castle and Culzean
Castle. It lies 16 miles north of Castle
Douglas, Scotland’s Food Town, 30 miles

nearby. Castle Douglas, a traditional market
town specialises in food and local produce
and is an interesting day out.

Kirkcudbright, the artist town boasting a
splended castle and the Stewartry Museum.
