Here are a few of the
Holiday Cottages we list in Cumbria and The
Lake District:

|
The Eskdale Estate is
set within a peaceful valley in the western
Lake District, an area of sparkling beauty.
Unique in having so much contained in one
boundary, it is totally untouched by public
roads, with the hidden gem of the golf
course lying at its heart. High Eskholme is
a charming detached, mullioned window
holiday cottage, with a secluded garden
which lies on the edge of the pretty golf
course, just a few hundred yards from
fishing on the peaceful River Esk, the
wilderness of Muncaster Fell and the beauty
of the woods. Muncaster Castle and the
famous steam trains on the Ravenglass
railway are close by. Shops 3 miles, pub 2
miles.

Nestling under the
Coniston Fells in the heart of the Lake
District National Park, this group of
delightful holiday cottages (refs LD3 and LD4) (converted from a
17th-century barn) form a quaint
hamlet-style setting with superb open views.
Torver is a small picturesque village 3
miles south-west of Coniston in a beautiful
and romantic valley, surrounded by
spectacular scenery. The village is
welcoming, warm and friendly and has two
pubs serving good food (660 yards). The area
abounds with woods, crags, streams and
waterfalls, and is home to a wealth of
wildlife. Coniston is a famous centre for
walking, climbing and cycling, and boats may
be hired on the lake, as well as trips taken
on the Victorian steam yacht Gondola.
Windermere, Ambleside, Hawkshead, Grasmere
and Beatrix Potter’s Sawrey are within a
scenic drive. Superb visitor attractions
such as the Dalton Wild Animal Park with its
Sumatran tigers and Aquarium of the Lakes at
Lakeside are easily accessible.
|
|

The area is rich
in historic houses and gardens including Muncaster
Castle, Holker Hall and grounds with its Lakeland
Motor Museum, Sizergh castle, Levens Hall and
topiary gardens.

Aptly named, Waterhead
Studio is set right on the shore of, and
with superb views across Lake Windermere.
Apart from the small lake frontage, guests
also benefit from a balcony, boat storage
area and shared use of a jetty. Guests also
have 4 complimentary membership of leisure
facilities at a nearby hotel, with pool,
gym, sauna and spa (further passes can be
purchased). On the southern outskirts of
Ambleside, just ¼ mile from Waterhead, where
you can take cruises down the lake. The
visitor centre at Brockhole, with its 30
acres of award-winning gardens and grounds,
is a great place for a trip to this
beautiful area. Home to a series of trails,
walks, events and activities, it also has an
information centre where you can find out
all about the local attractions and there
are, indeed, many to see here. Close by are
Hawkshead and Grasmere. Both villages are
inextricably linked to the romantic poet
William Wordsworth. Historians and
Wordsworth fans alike will find a visit to
either Dove Cottage or Rydal Mount an
interesting diversion. Wordsworth is not the
only literary connection here; both John
Ruskin and Beatrix Potter also lived nearby,
Ruskin at Brantwood on the shores of
Coniston Water, and Beatrix Potter at Hill
Top (NT) at Far Sawrey.
|
|

There are many
ways to explore this often frequented area and each
visitor chooses his own path, by foot, mountain
bike, car, boat or even horse. An ideal holiday
base. Shops and pubs 1 mile.
