Catch the county cricket at Canterbury or
try your luck at the races at Folkestone
race course. Car racing can be enjoyed at
Lydden and Brands Hatch and birdwatchers
will be in their element at Dungeness,
Sandwich or Stodmarsh. For the garden
enthusiast, Kent has more gardens open to
the public than any other county in England
so try Scotney Castle garden and
Sissinghurst. Castles are also abundant –
see Leeds, Dover and Walmer and if you wish
to visit further afield the Channel Tunnel
is a 10 minute drive, enabling you to visit
France or if you prefer to go by ferry –

can be rented within walking distance of the
property. Fishing (both sea and
lake), golf - three local courses, or day
trips to France or London are all
possibilities.

to weave their way through the labyrinth of

Overlooking the White
Cliffs, these two enchanting fishermen’s
cottages (above) are set on a private
shingle road in a conservation area on
Kingsdown Beach, close to the seaside town
of Deal. Both holiday cottages feature
floor-to-ceiling bay windows looking out
over a grassy meadow leading to the sea.
Both have panoramic views across the Channel
to France. The beach, 80 yards away, is
shingle with sand and rock pools at low
tide. Sea angling, sailing, kite flying and
championship golf courses are on the
doorstep. The castles of Dover, Deal and
Walmer, Canterbury’s cathedral, Whitstable’s
oysters, Broadstairs’ beach donkeys, and
Sandwich’s riverboat are within easy reach.
Day trips from Dover to France are just 10
minutes away. Breathtaking cliff-top walks
to the Bluebird tea rooms above St
Margaret’s Bay.

hamlet of Staple and is surrounded by
countryside. Built nearly 300 years ago, it

including the vineyard trail. This
