Set within
the extensive grounds of a stunning
Edwardian house (which now serves as a
conference centre), this stylish modern
detached house, with its own private
entrance, has been designed to a very high
specification for a holiday stay and boasts
seven bedrooms, each with en-suite
facilities. Elegantly furnished and
particularly thoughtfully finished, the
living room overlooks the orchard and has
the added feature of a ‘glass wall’,
allowing a wide field of view to be taken
in. A large grassed garden is available for
sole use, and there are very attractive
mature gardens and grounds surrounding the
conference centre, which have fine views of
the Ochil Hills. The area immediately
surrounding the house is rich in history.
Known as Rob Roy and William Wallace
Country, there are several places of
interest to visit, as well as monuments that
played a part in the turbulent stories of
the past. Nearby is the beautifully restored
Alloa Tower, coming under the care of the
NTS, which was the ancestral home of the
Earls of Mars for centuries, and which
affords fine views of the Forth from its
parapet walk. From Castle Campbell, there
are magnificent views of the hills beyond
and down the glen to Dollar – an affluent
town that is home to the respected Academy.
Flanked by the rushing streams of the Burn
of Sorrow and the Burn of Care, the wooded
glen leading up to the castle offers a
pleasant walk. Straddling the River
Forth, Stirling (just a 15-minute drive
away), has the lofty Wallace Monument, which
stands proudly as a tribute to William
Wallace. From the top of the tower, views
across to Fife and Ben Lomond can be
savoured. Stirling’s magnificent castle
overlooks the town and historical
re-enactments are frequently staged here.
Also within easy reach are Edinburgh and
Glasgow – both lying within a 40-minute
drive. Retail outlet village at
Tillicoultry, and activities such as golf,
riding, hill walking and fishing all
available nearby.

Gartmore the perfect
setting for those who love outdoor
pursuits:
Property Location:
Gartmore,
Stirling.

Situated
in the fantastic location of the Trossachs
National Park, these beautifully renovated
18th-century barn conversions, accessed via
a rough track, lie in a peaceful location
offering breathtaking views over Ben Lomond
and the Menteith Hills.

outdoor pursuits, with hundreds of
kilometres of forest track easily
accessible. Back Borland has two large

them, in which guests are welcome to take
children and/or dogs.

level of difficulty. Even without the
current, it still makes a lovely sized pool
in which children can swim and have fun.
This is an ideal location to explore one of
Scotland’s most picturesque areas with
excellent outdoor activities to be enjoyed
including walking, cycling, golf, fishing,

Tossachs Discovery Centre to learn more
about this exciting area, or a little
further afield, why not enjoy a cruise on
the stunning Loch Lomond. Stirling - with
its ancient castle - is also easily
accessible for the day and well worth a
trip. The surrounding district is steeped
in history and there are many characters in
Scottish history who have had vast amounts
written about them, but few as famous as Rob
Roy Macgregor, William Wallace and Mary
Queen of Scots, all of whom had a part to
play in the history of this area.
