This
beautifully furnished, large Edwardian
maisonette, approximately 50 yards from the
cliff top (sea views from balcony) is a five
minute walk to Filey golf club, the wide
sandy bay and also the park with boating,
playground and café. St Oswalds is spacious
and comfortable and consists of the first
and second floors of the left half of the
building in photograph. Bordered by the
rocky Brigg and the magnificent chalk cliffs
of Bempton (RSPB sanctuary), this stretch of
coastline has long been a favourite for
families. Ponies on the beach and mini golf
on the promenade, this small resort has
remained unspoilt over the decades. The
larger resort of Scarborough, 6 miles,
offers excellent theatre, harbour with boat
trips, the Sea Life centre and Water Scene
swimming pool. Robin Hood’s Bay, 23 miles,
renowned as a smuggler’s haunt, its narrow
cobbled streets built into the cliff side.
Historic Whitby with picturesque marina and
harbour, 30 miles. Other places of interest
in the area include Sledmere, Burton Agnes
Norman manor house and Castle Howard. City
of York 40 miles. Ganton golf club is a
short drive and there is excellent walking
along the Cleveland Way. Shops, inns, cafes
and restaurants all within 100 yards.

excellent area for walkers, the Cleveland
Way follows the cliff-top paths and inland
the Wolds Way Walk meanders through the
villages and farmland. North Moors National

Cook’s museum, the 199 steps leading to St

villages of Robin Hood’s Bay, built into the
cliffs and renowned as a smugglers haunt,
and Runswick Bay are well worth a visit;
whilst the larger resort of Scarborough, 20
miles, offers excellent theatre, the Sea
Life Centre, and Water Scene swimming pool.

Britain’s
first holiday resort, Scarborough has been
welcoming visitors for over 360 years and is
a delightful bustling seaside town catering
for all the family. Beautiful sandy beaches
of the North and South Bays are divided by a
rocky headland, all proudly overlooked by
Scarborough’s 12th century castle and
affording uninterrupted views across the
coastline as far as Filey Brigg. At the foot
of the castle in the harbour, fishermen
still land their catch. Beaches, cliff top
walks and a busy shopping centre are all
easily reached by the Victorian cliff lifts.
A town of immense style with some of the
finest parks and gardens, an elegant
Esplanade and the magnificent Spa complex,
where the only remaining seaside orchestra
still performs. Something for everyone, by
day or night with traditional Punch & Judy
shows, donkey rides, seafront amusements, an
indoor swimming pool, the Sea Life Centre,
Peasholm Park, art galleries and museums,
and top stars performing at the town’s
theatres.
