Discover your own ideal spots to stay.  Although magazines are useful, the internet provides the easiest access to the widest range of up-to-date information about places to visit and places to stay.

Typically the biggest challenge to accessing information on the internet is searching for the best websites. We have researched the Internet to provide you with links throughout this series that will take you directly to quality websites where you will be able to view, explore, and print off information of interest to you.

How to enjoy free visits to historic castles, gardens and places of historic interest with The National Trust:

If you plan to visit historic grand houses and other properties managed by the National Trust we recommend that you pay the 60 pounds or so to become a member giving you access on concession or even free of charge. You can join on the Internet from home before you leave home.

You will soon have paid more than the joining fee after you have visited one or two national trust properties if you are not a member.

The National Trust cares for over 248,000 hectares (612,000 acres) of beautiful countryside in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, plus almost 600 miles of coastline and more than 200 buildings and gardens of outstanding interest and importance

Whilst you may doubt your interest, once you start touring you will encounter many National Trust properties that you would like to visit but you may pass these opportunities on account of the cost if you are not a member

The Great British Heritage Pass also gives you free entry to a great range of locations.
