Online maps and locating Wi-Fi locations where you can connect your laptop

You will find two types of maps in our pages: Google maps and Multimap.com maps

Google maps: We have placed links to Google online maps on many of our pages because they offer different features to multimap.com maps. For example you can change the display to a satellite view of the area and zoom in like this link which will open a satellite view of Windsor Castle, Windsor.

Plus Google maps give you an easy way to print out routes from one place to another location - click here for more details on Google maps. For this reason you will find a link to a Google map beside each of the town or village names in our pages of towns and villages by county where you open a display of cottages within 25 miles of the location you select.

Multimap.com maps:

When you view the property details page of a cottage the link 'Find this property on a map' will open a map from multimap.com showing you the location of the cottage - please see details below about multimap.co. maps

What is Wi-Fi?

You will see this section (below) displayed to the left of the multimap page giving you a summary of what facilities are available in the map displayed. If you zoom the map to show more territory the numbers associated with these facilities will increase. Here we see that there are 2 Wi-Fi - also known as WiFi - hotspots in the map displayed. Many of these Wi-Fi hotspots charge for access.

If you frequently travel with your laptop you should look out for wireless hotspots that will allow you to connect to the internet for free.

When you click the free hotspots locater link above, try entering the Postcode for Stratford-Upon-Avon - CV37 6QZ - Postcodes are accurate for identifying locations throughout the UK.

This is a rapidly developing technology and it is likely that the areas covered and service provided will improve dramatically in the future.
