The county of
Berkshire lies to the west of London with its eastern boundary
adjacent to Greater London. It stretches some 60 miles westwards to
the Wiltshire border, with Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire to the
north.
With Hampshire to the south and Surrey to the East, Berkshire is
famous for its Castle at Windsor, Eton College and horse racing at
Royal Ascot.
Visitors enjoy the many picturesque villages
and historic houses.
The eastern parts of Berkshire are urbanised doe to their proximity
to Greater London whilst West Berkshire is more rural. The Thames
Valley through which the Thames river runs passes along the Northern
boundary of Berkshire where the county meets with Oxfordshire and
Buckinghamshire.
